The first time father is Alfie Thomas's journey of fatherhood, the book is not a stuffed knowledge on the paper on how to behave as a new father but rather a rich experience of a father of three, who struggles to find the proper answers to his legitimate fears and questions and wanted to share his journey with other parents. packed up with knowledge of the pregnancy and all the changes that your partner and the baby might go through. With plenty of tips on what is expected from you as a father and an insight on how your life might look after that as it will change from that moment you and your partner received the good news until forever.

I liked how Alfie, the author compiled all the complicated new information into a fun and easy conceivable material. by giving very specific details of his own experience as examples for every obstacle every new parent might have to overcome, it is fascinating how the book contains a huge number of details, the preparation for the new child, the support that you need to give your partner, the financial issues, hospital arrangements, the delivery day and the whole new life after that, the author does not leave a stone unturned, yet still catches the readers attention. The triangle of knowledge, experience, and pieces of advice make the book the perfect guide for expectant parents.

Although the author humanizes the book by adding his experience, which is better than abstract information, I find that focusing on what you have to do, and all the tiny details of the pregnancy and being a father, in general, might be a bit overwhelming and instead of helping, it might magnify the fears of being a new father.

I'm not a new father, but I enjoyed reading the book, it was an easy read, the author succeeded in simplifying one of the most intimidating human experiences, the book was funny too with a bit of joke here and there, and plenty of new easily digested information, yet the book was not professionally edited, and it does contain profanity so I rate it 3 out of 4 stars.

This book is not for everybody, but it is for all the parents to be, the title might suggest that it is for fathers only but it is not, any new mom can read it and enjoy it too, I highly recommend it to all the worried expectant parents, it won't take much of your time and it is pretty informative.
