HOW TO STOP BINGE EATING AND LEARN TO LOVE FOOD AGAIN DEVELOP A POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR PLATE, FROM KALE TO CAKE (AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN) by REBECCA L. ROBSON is a book that guides a binge eater on how to stop that habit. Binge-eating is an eating disorder where one craves to eat a huge chunk of sugary food or junk food.

This habit comes about as a trigger of dopamine. Dopamine is a chemical that is generated in the brain when someone gets excited about food. It's a chemical that brings about relief after that first bite of whatever someone is craving. It can easily be held that dopamine is the main catalyst of binging. In the book the author gave tips on how to know you are suffering from this disorder and how to overcome it.

The book was well written, short and straight to the point. I liked how the author summarised the points in a way that she captured all the important details. It was also impressive how the author used her own experience to try to make the points more relatable and doer able. Such that if someone is going through this disorder, through the experiences of the author, they too can be encouraged and not feel ashamed. If it worked for her, it could work for them too.

Although the author kept on saying there is no shame in having this disorder, I somehow felt that she was blaming those going through this struggle. Where she was talking about taking charge of one's eating habits and not giving in to the inner voice that wants a huge tube of chocolate. In as much as she talked about how to shun that inner voice the tone in that paragraph felt as though she was accusing those suffering of being weak and gullible. This was the only thing that I disliked about the book. Besides that, the book was well written and well edited. I however spotted a few grammatical errors in the book.

I rate this book as 3 out of 4 because I believe many people should read it. It contains a lot of helpful information that can save someone’s life. It was very insightful and thought-provoking too. I liked how the author put short paragraphs and the book wasn't long itself. This made sure that the book wasn't boring. I recommend it to young adults as they are the ones that easily fall into the binge-eating trap. People who are suffering from this disorder can also benefit from this book as it is quite informative.
