The world needs peace and peaceful coexistence among people, irrespective of their color, status, or origin. A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir that tells the story of a man who gives his all in the pursuit of peace.

The author was born in a small town into a family that placed a high value on education. This was a driving force for him to pursue his education, even to the highest level. He was awarded a scholarship to study medicine in France, and this is where his life as an activist and freedom fighter started. Having faced racial abuse and discrimination, he was determined to fight against it. At that time, Algeria was annexed by France and he played an important role in helping Algeria gain its freedom. He graduated as a doctor from France and went on to become a professor. His aim was to help Africa find its voice. His aim was to restore peace in Africa.

This is an interesting and detailed memoir. He started by narrating his childhood experiences and his family life before getting to the diplomatic and political parts. This helped me not to get tired of the book, as the stories he told of his childhood were interesting and catchy. A lot of lessons can be learnt from this memoir. I liked the fact that in every decision he took, he was always aiming for peace. He was also a very principled man who was always ready to say the truth. I admired the fact that he also used his profession to help people and even had to improvise where and when necessary. He used easy and understandable words, and this helped with the flow of the book. This book is also very informative. I got to learn that France colonized Algeria after reading this book.

There is absolutely nothing to hate about this book. It was a great read and was also informative. The pictures included in the book were a nice idea. It helped me imagine the settings in my head most of the time. This book captures a lot of events in Africa's history.

I unquestionably rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was free of errors of all kinds, which showed it was exceptionally well edited. This book has made me appreciate our heroes more. They went through a lot of things to get us to where we are now. I recommend this book to lovers of historical novels. I also recommend this book to potential politicians and activists.
