It's hard to find someone who enjoys reading more about health books than I do. Works on diet, exercise, athlete biography, you name it. Even though I've read over 100 books on these topics, I've never read a book specifically focused on an eating disorder. For that reason, I was very excited when I had the opportunity to review How to Stop Binge Eating And Learn To Love Food Again by Rebecca L Robson. And this 126-page book didn't let me down. It is a fascinating work that questions some traditional approaches and develops the theoretical rather than the practical part. There are examples from the author's life, a discussion of how the human organism evolved, and detailed explanations of what motivates a person to have this type of eating disorder.

Most of the book is focused on psychological issues. The author eloquently and didactically explained what makes people have a binge eating disorder. There are fascinating chapters on how we criticize ourselves excessively and don't value little progress, how it is impractical in the long term to diet too restrictively, and the importance of understanding our own body. This innovative approach was what I liked most about the book. After all, there are hundreds of miracle diets and workout programs that promise to turn you into a supermodel in no time. On the other hand, Rebecca has written a book that addresses the first step everyone has to take to end binge eating while respecting their individuality.

The only aspect of the book that seemed wrong to me was the chapter about physical exercise. I fully understand that the author's focus is on the psychological issue, and I tend to agree that if you don't get your mind right first, you will hardly be able to stop binge eating or even have a healthy lifestyle. However, you will read precisely this: "exercise should never be a tool for losing weight because it is not very effective." What? How can that be? This statement is unscientific, and just jumping rope a few times a week can be very effective in losing weight.

How to Stop Binge Eating And Learn To Love Food Again by Rebecca L Robson is an easy-to-read, informative and insightful book that will help anyone who wants to overcome this eating disorder. As much as I have pointed out in the previous paragraph that the book contains wrong information, it is just one sentence in a chapter. Therefore, I see no point in not giving a score different from four out of four stars.

I recommend this book to anyone with an eating disorder or the general public interested in health issues. It's exceptionally edited, and I couldn't find any grammatical errors. There are no profane words and no sex scenes for self-explanatory reasons.

Heart! We will forget him!
You an I, tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave,
I will forget the light.

When you have done, pray tell me
That I my thoughts may dim;
Haste! lest while you're lagging.
I may remember him!

Perhaps the author means that exercises are not actually meant for weight loss. They are important for your health. Some exercises don't affect your net weight because they lead to building muscles and decreasing fats. This leads to a healthier and a better body shape but one may not detect a great loss in weight because muscles are heavier than fat. Great review.

As someone who is trying to recover from an unhealthy relationship with food, this book would definetly be helpful. Your review also made me even more interested in reading it, also I completely agree with your point of the benefits of exercise for weight-loss.
