Review of A Dream For Peace
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, a former freedom warrior turned diplomat, has written a memoir called A Dream For Peace. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's book details the different essential and strategic roles he played in his endeavor to disseminate peace and love over the world.
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was born at a time when France had a lot of control and restrictions on Algeria. Algeria's injustices and France's constant efforts to erase Algerian culture and heritage left him with no choice but to become a freedom warrior to preserve Algeria's independence. He also revealed the nature of his close friendship with late President Félix Houphout-Boigny, the first president of Côte d'Ivoire. The pages of this detailed memoir disclose the specifics of his adventurous life as an ambassador.
I appreciated learning about these historical events from Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's firsthand accounts. I appreciated the magnificent fusion of African traditions. I particularly liked the way he detailed various foods, customs, and clothing. He described the fabrics in such a way that I felt as if I was looking at them in person. I loved how he put photographs in the book. I was relieved that I hadn't only read about historical occurrences. I instead saw some of them through photographs.
I liked his writing style and the way he used words and idioms to portray his emotions and thoughts understandably. I like that he included footnotes after each chapter rather than at the end of the book, so I didn't have to read to the end of the book to find out what things meant.
His meticulous record-keeping amazed me and some of the anecdotes he related made me giggle. For example, when a Cad had excessive cholesterol and Dr. Ghoulem Berrah advised him to have a lean diet. After that, the Cad asked him to dinner and treated him to a series of high-calorie meals, culminating in "the special diet" to placate Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. "He assumed I'd instructed him to eat his typical meal routine and top it up with the lean diet," Dr. Ghoulem Berrah realized.
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was incredibly resourceful, always willing to help, eager to learn, and laser-focused. Reading this excellent book by such a dedicated and intellectual man was extremely encouraging. There are so many additional aspects of this book that I can't possibly discuss in this space.
This book has no flaws in my opinion. I noticed a few tiny inaccuracies, but they didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. I believe this book was properly edited. As a result, A Dream For Peace receives a 4 out of 4 stars from me.
This memoir will appeal to anyone interested in nonfiction, autobiographies, memoirs, history, and foreign politics. This memoir, in my opinion, will teach everyone something. As a result, I highly suggest it. People who are easily offended by racial discrimination or violent scenes should be cautious.
