We all live the same 24 hours a day. The difference lies in how we spend these 24 hours, and further is the difference when we take note of the differences in starting points, present situations, and futures at stake. I believe that everyone’s lives are extraordinary and worthy of a book. After all, everyone has their own story to tell. However, the only question that one could come out of reading A Dream For Peace by Ghoulem Berrah is how much has this man experienced? It is improbable for him to have documented everything, yet everything in this book is the epitome of extraordinary.

In this stunning nonfiction book, Berrah tells us his story as an activist fighting for the decolonization of Algeria. This is a book about his efforts as a man that has always wished for peace, thus rendering the title truer than it could ever be. However, Berrah was not only an activist. He was a scientist, a Special Advisor of a president, and was one of the starters of the dialogues between Palestine and Israel. This talks of a diplomat who cares and wants the best for the people. Berrah shows us with utmost humility how he put his life on the line for his country.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about Africa after its decolonization. Berrah is a great diplomat, he enunciates the situations occurring in Africa vividly and with so much heart. Apart from the historical takeaways, I would also recommend this to anyone who feels the need for some inspiration to better themselves and become more selfless.

There was nothing I didn’t like about this book. Flawless, stunning, and easy to read. Upon reading the summary, anyone would assume that this would be difficult to follow due to the historical events. However, Berrah skillfully and clearly explains historical terms and his life captivatingly. It could be rare to feel addicted to reading a nonfiction book, but I am firm on saying that Berrah could entertain with a heartwarming flourish. A Dream For Peace is exceptionally edited, too. I rate this book four out of four stars.

All in all, A Dream For Peace is a fantastic book. I am honored to have experienced all of this with Berrah through a book. I applaud Berrah not only for his extraordinary life but also for writing such a great book. This one has touched my heart unknowingly and I thank Berrah for it.
