Review of Mythic Worlds and the One You Can Believe In
Mythic Worlds and the One You Can Believe In is a book that was written by Harold Toliver. In this book, Harold uses his knowledge of science, philosophy, literature, and so forth to describe different myths. He also includes different reputable scholars to support his claims.
In this book, the author includes various hypotheses as well as theories from these scholars as additional information for the readers. The author starts from talking about separating lies and revealing the truth when it comes to describing different myths and eventually talks in more detail about how we make up things in our minds in order to keep our minds away from boredom. He also talks in more detail about how we can be repaired and that is where he mentions various scholars a lot. Lastly, he talks about the 17th century. All these things that are mentioned in the book are divided into twelve chapters and these chapters are further divided into four segments and they all contain different but useful information about myths.
What I liked about this book was that the author took his time to research about all the information that he wrote before actually writing the book. This book was really packed with information, to a point that I was also helped with noting a few quotes as I am also a research student. I also liked the fact that the author was able to write his book without being repetitive and that is what made the book very interesting. The book was well organized, although the author sometimes used words that were hard to understand unless you found the meanings in the dictionary. The author presented all his information in a creative manner and also made sure that he referenced all the work that wasn’t his. I also admired the fact that the author was able to divide his book in a very good way and that made the book to be chronologically organized.
There is absolutely nothing that I disliked about the book. This book was exceptionally edited, as I did not find any errors in it. It also did not contain any profanity and it is suitable for everyone, even those who do not believe in religion.
I would like to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to history, science, as well as philosophy students because I think that they will be able to use this book as reference in their research proposals as well as other assignments. I also recommend this book to everyone who likes to read about science books.
