A Dream for Peace is a memoir written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. It would be more apt to call this book an autobiography. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a political diplomat and someone who has contributed to the development, independence, and autonomy of African countries. This book is shaped by his diplomatic experience in global politics. It follows the struggles of Dr. Berrah from his infancy as an Algerian child living in an Europeon colony to being an advisor to the president of the republic.

A Dream for Peace is written as an autobiography in the first person perspective. This book starts off with a prologue written by the now deceased Titular Archbishop of Bolsena and a homage paid to the author. One particular thing I loved about Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was his ability to stick with what he believed in. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was a Muslim, a radical, and a diplomat who risked his life in search of peace. His amazing relationship with his black Catholic wife is something that is frequently mentioned in this book. I admire Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's courage and conviction in finding peace for the African country of Côte d’Ivoire and his help in resolving the Israeli conflicts.  Dr. Berrah is someone who wants peace. As an international diplomat, he did his job well and helped multiple countries in his time get their independence.

This book is primarily written in English, but some conversations are written in French. That was the only thing that I did not like about the book. I loved the inclusion of images, as I believe it helps to prove the authenticity of the multiple historic events that the author has participated in. I particularly liked the epilogue at the end of the book and the author's message advocating for peace in Africa and his message about racism in the United States.

I would rate A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah four out of four stars. This isn't the first autobiography of a political figure that I have read, but this is the most intriguing one yet. While reading this book, I found no typos, but I did find some grammatical errors. This book was professionally edited and well written, and the errors I did find did not affect or hinder my reading experience.

I would recommend A Dream for Peace to anyone who is interested in the diplomatic history of Africa. I would also recommend this book to anyone who loves reading works that focus on political history. This would also be an amazing book for history students to read.
