The era of colonialism introduced so much into our society, for example, we discovered a group of people who were different from us. These people were light in color, wore fabrics that covered most of their bodies, spoke different languages from ours here in Africa and so on. Formal education was also introduced, but then, there were some bad as well, for example, discrimination in race, conflicts, et cetera.

When I read about the experiences of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, my understanding of the difficulties that were present at the time increased. Dr. Berrah, a strong believer and practitioner of Islam, was an Algerian native. He was born and bred in Algeria, but his aims in life took him from one place to another like Morocco, China and so on. A Dream For Peace is a book that talks to us about his journey in life. The information includes where he was born, studied, career choices, necessities when it came to choosing a life partner, achievements, roles towards what he believed in as a person. A medical student who chose to be a freedom fighter. The importance and role of his participation in what was taking place at the time like providing medical assistance in Morocco. When the author said his experiences triggered his need to become what he chose to be, with evidence I began to understand his grievances. For example, the misconduct of his teacher, while he was still in primary, poor accommodation facilities, while he was pursuing his degree in medicine.

I loved the author for being open about what he thought. I also have to add that his personality, traits, and talents played a very big role in what he became. The statements pertaining to racism brought up mixed inside of me, that is, anger and sadness. I did not come across any errors. Hence, this book was professionally edited. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

I think that Berrah was the kind of person who thought before he acted. That enabled him to have fewer regrets and make the right choices. He was also very insightful because he was able to identify the affection of Antoinette. His good habits even in the most provoking situations. Acknowledging the advice of others, for example, Dr. Abdelkrim.

I recommend this book to those aged fifteen years and above, in consideration of their career choices, political, social , and religious beliefs, the qualities they are looking for in their life partners. This book helps us to know and teaches how to go about such matters to be able to make the right choices
