Review of A Dream For Peace
This book, A Dream for Peace, is a non-fiction book by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. It details the life of the author and his accomplishments. The author is a diplomat who has given himself to achieving so many things in life. The author grew up in an African country, Algeria. His passion for the liberation of Africa led him to the forefront of the movement for the independence of Algeria.
That is not all; he is inspired by his desire to see his people free. His horrible experiences mainly inspired this during the french colonization; it births different movements from one man. He is said to have contributed to the famous Palestinian-Israeli dialogue. Being a diplomat, he has traveled around the world. The book also highlights his different achievements in these places. There are just so many things to read about here.
There are so many bright sides to this book. The positive aspects were not far-fetched. The first is that this book is filled with different stories of the heroism of Dr. Ghoulem. I couldn't stop reading. This book highlights in a beautiful way of storytelling how the author led various movements. It was like someone was talking to me. I could feel Dr. Ghoulem's passion and dedication. I was also impressed to learn about all the people he knew.
Also, this book contains a lot of lessons. To give an instance, Dr. Ghoulem had to get married three times. This passed a strong message of perseverance to me. It sent a message of hope that I should never give up. That is not the only lesson to be learned from his marriage. Also, we can learn to be tolerant of people's beliefs and faith, even if they are contrary to ours. Dr. Ghoulem and his wife, Titi, practiced different religions, but that was not going to deter them at all.
On the downside of this book, there is actually nothing worthy of note I could find. Even though I found a few errors in the book, I would still say it was professionally edited. The author did an amazing job ensuring that this book was edited to a satisfactory level. I enjoyed different things about this book. The stories were my favorite.
That said, I rate this book four out of four stars. Nothing could compel me to deduct a star from my rating, and I am happy I did not have to. This book is amazing, and I am glad to give it this perfect rating. People who love memoirs are the best fit for this book. I would say it is different anyway; it does not have that dull lecture-like feeling most memoirs come with. The stories contained in this book will keep you reading without stopping.
I also recommend this book to people who enjoy history because there is so much to discover in this book. There are so many stories about what actually happens out of sight; they will enjoy this one too. Finally, this book contains a lot of stories about Africa. If you are interested in learning more about the African struggle towards independence, then this is recommended for you.
