Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a fascinating non-fiction book. This book is a detailed autobiography of the author. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a militant for peace, a politician, and just a man with a big mind. This memoir is full of trembling memories of a man who has experienced the greatest transformations of Africa. This book holds for its main idea a statement that ensures that world peace is possible in case both sides of the conflict evaluate one another's perspective.
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah’s life story is fascinating in its complexity. It starts in France, where he moved to study medicine after he got a scholarship in his native Morocco. He met some of his lifelong friends at the university where he studied. They were mainly from African third-world countries. They had a tremendous influence on his career choice. Inspired by his friends and their backgrounds from poor and undeveloped parts of the world, he chose to become a political activist. Many times he got arrested for his political views, but no matter the difficulties he continued to pursue his goal and move towards a better future. Throughout his journey, he shared his contribution to the combats that he had to undergo in order to make a change in the political scene concerning third-world countries and their development.
Throughout the entire book, I by no means stopped being curious about the simplicity of the author’s style in relationship with the difficulty of the subject in question. I cherished the concept that the writer related to himself. This idea essentially consists of the fact that he is ready at all moments to sacrifice all of what he is and everything that he has in order to be able to help others. I think the author associated himself with that image so that the reader could do the same for himself. I really appreciated this aspect of educational philosophy from the author.
I found certain parts of the book undeveloped. I personally felt like I needed a deeper understanding of the political landscape of certain countries. That blurred my understanding of the book in certain parts.
I only found some very minor grammar mistakes that weren’t at all disturbing me from reading this book.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It covers a very wide subject of Third World countries' political landscapes, which I found to be an absolutely breathtaking subject. I loved this book due to its philosophical portrait and due to an idol of justice that was represented by the author and his tendencies toward a great future in the world of man. This book is absolutely worth reading.
I would recommend this book to those who seek to learn about a great life story that can teach them how to construct their own lives by projecting the author's experience and ideas onto themselves. I would also recommend this book to those readers who are interested in the political aspects of post-colonial Africa.
