Review of Why Can't Johnny Just Quit?
It's not easy to understand what addiction is if you or the person you're related to went through this horrible situation. Addiction is becoming more common among people because of some factors, like improvements in technology. Why Can't Johnny Just Quit? is a brilliant non-fiction book written by Kyle Oh, M.D. It explores the subject of addiction.
The author discusses why he had to switch from being a physical and rehabilitation specialist to an addiction specialist at the beginning of the book. Due to the circumstances, he was forced to concentrate on addiction issues. The three main motivations for writing this book are to redefine addiction, to assist individuals who have been affected by addiction in learning how to control it, and to prevent others from becoming addicted.
This book was well-written and informative. It is broken down into 17 chapters. It's also a short book that can be read in a short period of time. Furthermore, it's around 300 pages long. This educational book's cover was well-designed by the author. The image on the cover symbolically represents the content of the book. It is also eye-catching. This book is an insightful book that contains valuable information in it.
I also liked the author's representation of his ideas in the book. He discussed the concepts in the book in a systematic and professional manner, owing to his background in medicine and addiction issues. He also includes short stories to emphasize and clarify his ideas. The tale of one addiction patient who sold his mother's wedding ring to buy drugs, for example, is told in the book's introduction.
By employing simple language, the author made it easier for me to understand the entire book. In addition, the writing style is fantastic. The author did his best to make the book interesting by illustrating it with short stories. Compared to other books of its kind, this was remarkable. The book includes case studies of addiction patients with whom the author treated during his career.
At the end of the book, the author provides numerous valuable links. Those interested in conducting addiction research can benefit from these links. Furthermore, definitions of some of the book's terms have been included for clarity. There was nothing about this book that I didn't like.
The book was professionally edited, as I found no errors in it. I wholeheartedly give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This is because the book's content was informative and clear. The writing was superbly done. Additionally, the cover and the title were appealing. I recommend this book to people who love reading non-fiction and educational books. Those who are suffering from addiction may also acquire a lot of useful information from the book.
