A Dream For Peace is a journey of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's life, challenges, and achievements throughout his life. It begins with his early life and goes past retirement. The pinnacle of his life was at university and his time of service with President Houghouet Boigny. His life runs concurrently with a time when most countries, especially Africa, were still under colonial rule. There was a need for the countries to be independent and university students were at the forefront of the struggle. They formed organizations that were instrumental in the formation of political parties.

Dr. Berrah gives us a one-on-one account of his life. From his early life and a lot about his diplomatic life. A scholar in various fields, Dr. Berrah pursued a peaceful life through mediation between different countries. As the personal advisor to the president, he was right in the middle of President Houphouet's administration and diplomatic pursuits. He traveled a lot to different countries in his missions and one has to read the book to appreciate this.

The life of Dr. Berra is inspirational. I felt unlimited while reading the book. His achievements as a scholar were extraordinary and would motivate anyone to pursue more. You would be amazed how a person who is so well-read is grounded in religious matters. His impartiality to different religions is amazing and this is just one thing I loved about the book. Dr. Berrah did not shy away from interacting with people of different religious groups or even attending church and still went to the mosque to pray. This is one person who was not bound by race or religion and I feel the world would be a better place if only people were more like him.

The book was exceptionally written and edited. I only had a bit of a challenge with the French names. Otherwise, the book was amazing. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.

I can recommend this book to those who love politics and history. There is a lot here from the diplomatic life of Dr. Berrah to interest any political history enthusiast. And for those who just love biographies, I feel A Dream For Peace would be a good read. The book has no profanity or erotic content and as such can be read by young people and adults as well.
