If you cannot see it, does it mean that it doesn't exist? Is the voice of our instinct more than just our innate wisdom? In Conversing with Various Entities author Mary Ellen Wall dares to beseech readers to open their minds to the reality of the unseen. Wall is from a scientific background, she is well studied and experienced. However, she walks away from her corporate life and moves to a rural area in response to a perpetual spiritual pull.During the embarkment of her journey, she gets introduced to the ancient practice of dowsing as science could not help her, and she was in desperate need. Dowsing is the practice of using different tools to locate water, oil, and other gems beneath the earth. However, there is no solid scientific data that explains, how these tools are able to produce such accurate results.Wall's exposure to said practice smashed her already cracked mind. Her mind became a jungle of curiosity. Being of a scientific background she conducts research and experiments. Through her experiments, she unlocks the gate of her spirituality as she begins to converse with unseen entities. She does not discredit the greatness of science. However, she admits that based on her findings there are things that science just can not explain.

Throughout the text, Wall uses different tools to converse with unseen entities. However, she doesn't bottle this knowledge for herself. She tells readers how to make these tools, and how to use them. This is indeed something that I love about this work. The writer wants readers to end their read knowing that they have actually learned something. The novel is non-fiction yet the author does not force readers to believe her experience. She employs an experience it for your self kind of approach. Wall executes this lovely technique by encouraging readers to react to their curiosity and to seek out their own non-fiction reality. The numerous references included in the text are a positive for me as well. The author doesn't just tell her story, she provides sources of information as well. The text is bold, researched, and pleasing to the spiritual appetite.

The text contains a few pictures for illustration, the pictures are a bit small. Bigger pictures would have made a greater impact. The sinister view of early Christians regarding dowsing was a sad discovery for me. Science could not explain it and Christians characterized it as black magic. This is sad considering that the very foundation of Christianity is belief in an unseen God.

The novel educates. It confirms the existence of spiritual entities. However it is not well edited, it contains a few errors. These errors should not have any effect on the reader's experience. I rate this book 3 out of 4 because the size of the pictures provided is a bit too small to clearly illustrate. Bigger pictures would have definitely been more effective.

The text is a great spiritual guide. I recommend it for persons embarking on a spiritual journey. I also recommend it to any curious mind. What we see is not all that is. This text may just be the confirmation that you need.
