As he grew up, he witnessed and went through so much. There was a bit of racial segregation, hatred, ill-treatment, friendship and so on. He wanted to become a doctor, but then, he turned out to be a freedom fighter, who fought for what he believed in. There were successes, victories, losses,. challenges, and failures. He learned so much about his compatriots and colonial masters as well. He was born during the colonial era.

As I kept reading, my understanding and love for the story increased. I discovered and understood the traits of both my fellow Africans and colonialists. I also discovered that each of the parties had their own mistakes. I must say that there is nothing as good as being independent, yet we have failed to live without our colonial masters. Gaining our independence came at a very high price, for example, loss of property and lives, which are the most scary events and endings, in consideration to how they occur.

I really loved this story. First of all, this is first-hand information. First-hand information, given the fact that the person who told the events was in existence from the colonial era up until the present times. I felt as though I was the one going through the pain, suffering, while experiencing happiness as well. I learned that even we who were demanding for our independence had our own faults. This was anguishing, in accordance to me. I also felt angry at some of the actions of the colonial masters. For example, the killlings and segregation. These are some of the facts that I did not like about the story. I also did not like the mixed emotions I got, especially anger. I did not come to any typing or grammar errors. This book is titled A Dream For Peace, it was written by Ghoulem Berrah. Hence, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars

When I read this story, my understanding increased of what it meant to exist during the colonial era. For example, I may say that just like in our traditional cultures, women did not have so many participatory spots, especially politically until such a space was created. The colonial masters were also divided along religious lines, economic ambitions and so on. The compassion some of the colonial masters had towards us, the Africans, played a big role in helping us fight and gain our independence.

This non-fiction story is a memoir of the author. It draws a clear picture of what it means and takes, if someone is fighting for what he or she believes in. Therefore, I recommend this book to those who call themselves freedom fighters, students of and those who cherish History. Politicians, especially if you are on the oppposing end, whichever country of origin you may be from, and also if you wanted to know what it meant to live, learn or exist during the colonial era, if you were not in existence.
