Most of the women of the 21st century are empowered, independent and bold. Women of today’s world are free from the judgment of society and have established themselves in every field. The book, God’s Gift (Woman) by Freddie Floyd Jr talks about empowered women of today’s era while stating that every woman is different yet the same in the eyes of God.

The author began this book by telling how and why a woman is important and why she holds such importance in the eyes of God. In the later stages, he talks about equality, traits of a good man and woman, love, and relationships. He supports all his arguments by stating relevant facts and phrases from the Bible and then explaining what it means with different examples.

The only good thing about the novel came at a very later stage of the book. In that chapter, the author talks about why others treat us the way they do (whether good or bad). He states that others treat us in a way that we allow them to. If we want them to respect us then we should create a boundary that they shouldn’t cross or they’ll face consequences. If we want others to respect and appreciate us then we should respect and appreciate ourselves first. This is a good and practical point that is applicable in the real world itself.

To be honest, I felt that this book was offensive to not just women but men too at some points. There was a chapter where the author talks about what roles god created for men and women. In that chapter, the author wrote that God created men to do a job and provide for his family, and emphasized the point that women should date men who work and can provide for them. I felt that this was offensive to men as in today’s world men can also become house maker and not necessarily needs to do a job. After this, he highlights the point of equality where he says that both men and women are equal and are free to do whatever they wish to. Both of these points are extremely contradicting in my opinion and I couldn’t get the gist of the book.

The book revolves entirely around a biblical plot and was something which I did not like. As a person from a different community and beliefs, it was really hard for me to understand many points and I had to read it a couple of times to fully understand what it means. Also, I felt that this book could have been much better if it was set in a plot of the current world. It could have been an empowering book for women as it says to be only if the book and the examples were based on the current world. I feel this way because with every generation and every era certain changes are introduced in the world and people adapt to it accordingly, and this book couldn’t capture that essence at all.

I am rating this book 2 out of 4 stars for the reasons stated above. This book was professionally edited and I did not find any errors while reading this book. I would recommend this book to people who like reading books that revolve around biblical plots.
