Review of Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks
Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks: A Physician's Advice is written by Morton E. Travel, MD he is a retired physician who specialized in Cardiology and internal medicine. This book presents cognitive and lifestyle change approaches to weight management, diseases caused by smoking, dietary supplements, food, and Probiotics. The book is divided into three sections the first part covers health and nutrition. The second part debunks myths and misconceptions about our physical and mental health. The last part cautions readers about harmful products that are designed to deceive and take your money.
In this expansive nonfiction work, readers gain exposure to a plethora of health-related issues that fairly depicts whether some myths and facts are good or bad. The author sheds light on not only health and nutrition but on how to spot bogus products a mile away. Dr. Travel encourages readers to exercise, avoid high-calorie food, and commit to a long-term healthy diet. Readers in this book gain exposure to different types of misconceptions by providing examples that the book poses. For instance, "Detoxifying" Dr. Travel unapologetically declares it as a blatant scam because these herbal products are not monitored by the Federal and Drugs Administration and they do not have scientific evidence to back them up. This book offers readers the opportunity to change their lifestyle if they want to make such changes for example bottled water versus tap water there is no harm in drinking tap water as long it is hygienic. Mammography and PAP smear check-ups aren't necessary if one is healthy unless one is genetically susceptible. The book also narrates another interesting insight into the food industry he persuades readers to demand calorie and nutritional information.
What sets this book apart is its vicious honesty, moderate sense of humor, and exposing myths and misconceptions about health-related issues. The book strives for a fair depiction of each product or service that the books present it is not biased nor does it promotes a particular product. The book incorporates a wide variety of health, nutrition, diety supplements, and Probiotics issues depending on the interests of the reader. Dr. Travel supports his viewpoints by backing with research, group study, and scientific backup.
Although the book is phenomenal with great and valuable content, there is meaningless use of symbols in every chapter, misplaced or missing spaces between letters, and repetition of some contents. These minor mistakes do not keep me from rating this book at a full rate because its scientific facts are mind-blowing.
Regardless of the few blunders, I am glad to report that I did not observe any grammar or spelling errors therefore I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
This book will make a great addition to those interested in health and wellness, expanding nutrition knowledge, or those seeking a refreshing take on health based on myths versus fiction, this book is highly recommended.
