Review of Who Told You That You Were Naked?
Who told you that you that you were naked? A Refreshing Reexamination of the Garden of Eden is a non-fiction book. Written by William E. Combs. This book looks at the origin of sin, the nature of sin, and freedom from sin. The author looks at how sin entered into the world, using Genesis Chapters 3 and 4 as the basis of his writing. Combs used dramatization and conjectures in this book to help his readers fill in the events that occurred in the Garden of Eden; he also used the relationship between Cain and Abel to help his readers truly understand what sin is and its true cause; and he made a clear distinction between real faith and little faith, explaining why real faith is essential in walking with Jesus Christ.
You must have wondered what sin actually is. What was really in the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil? Why would God even put a restriction on that particular tree and not any other tree? Did Adam and Eve really commit sin by eating from the tree of good and evil, or is there really another explanation for the Genesis 3 account? In Genesis 2:17, God said to Adam, "in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." (Speaking about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil): Did God lie to Adam or did he really die? Read this book to find out the answers to these questions.
What I like about this book is the way the author was able to weave the accounts of Genesis 3 and 4 into a story without distorting the Bible and giving the reader a new perspective on what happened in the story. I also like how at the end of each chapter of the book there are questions and personal testimonies, and I believe this will give the reader the opportunity to think and meditate on what he/she has read.
There was nothing that I didn’t like about the book, and because it was professionally edited, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend this book to Christians of all ages and anyone who is interested in the subject of sin or who needs freedom from sin.
There are no sexual content or profane words in the book. I found just a few errors in the book which did not in any way affect the content or the enjoyment of the book. These show that this book was professionally edited.
