Review of Happiness is All We Want!
Happiness Is All We Want is a self-help book and guide to meditation by Ashutosh Mishra. The book contains detailed and step-by-step information on how to take care of our well-being. It was divided into 3 parts: mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Ashutosh believes that in order for us to be happy, we need to take care of ourselves and that happiness isn’t something to chase but to work hard for; mentally, physically, and spiritually.
As a modern man in our fast-paced world where society demands our time non-stop for 24 hours, how can we take care of ourselves as well our loved ones while fulfilling our responsibilities? Work, family, friends and our leisure time—all this we give our energy. We barely have left for ourselves and we spend it catching up on the trends, watching the latest movies and TV shows, spending our earned money through things we saw on the internet, even if we knew that these things aren’t really necessary. We buy them because they make us happy. We paid for tickets and watch movies because it relieves our stress from daily life and makes us happy. We buy happiness. Don’t get me wrong, these things aren’t bad at all and are in fact, help us in dealing with stress. But, here’s the deal: it’s temporary. We keep on this cycle of consuming endless things the society feeds to us because of our pursuit of happiness. We want to be happy. But in doing so, we unconsciously neglect our health in exchange for a bubble of happiness; one that popped too easily.
This book will help you balance your life again. It will guide you to your wellness. Starting with the first part, it discussed our minds and how we can have a healthier mindset. Our mental health really contributes to our well-being. In the second part, the physical aspect of our health, there was a lot of helpful advice and reminder on how to take care of our physical bodies and their importance to the mental and spiritual aspects of our being. Lastly, the third part discussed our spiritual well-being. We can be healthy physically and mentally but it is important to take care of our spiritual aspect so that we can be grounded and in touch with ourselves. This book presented a lot of different kinds of meditation that can be practiced easily while some need dedication. There are also recommendations of reliable resources about meditation by the author himself.
What’s so nice about this book is that Ashutosh also includes a personal account of his experiences as well as some of his friends which will teach you a great deal about managing life and our well-being; stories about real people and their predicament which showed how they coped up. It was an engaging read while learning so much.
I did not spot any errors or typos in this book and I can only conclude that it is professionally edited. Excellently written and well-edited, I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I was satisfied with its depth and the knowledge it shares with its readers. You will learn to look inside yourself again. It is truly a helpful book. I recommend this to everyone who seeks happiness and fulfillment. Whether you’re in college, working, or chilling, whatever stage you are in life right now, this book is certainly for you.
