Review of Who Told You That You Were Naked?
The book Who told you that you were naked? By William E. Combs is a theological reexamination of the Garden of Eden. The author took the readers through the circumstances that transpired in Eden with God, Adam and Eve in the garden. A fresh perspective of their actions and how the devastating consequences of their actions adversely impacted both Cain and Abel and subsequently enslaved us all.
The book was an eye opener for me, the content of the book depicts years of study, hard work and research. The author took time and detail to compile the contents of the book to help his reader understand the Christian faith. He cited and referenced a lot of verses in the Bible, other materials and commentaries. He also related those facts in a way that the reader can understand; practical and relatable.
What I love most about the book is the approach that the author employed in constructing this masterpiece. Although the book can be classified as non-fiction, the author related it as a piece of fiction. He presented a familiar story in the most creative form. I have read the story of the garden severally in the bible but the way the author presented it is amazing. The book is written from a fresh perspective and masterpiece born out of the author's imagination.
I also love how the author compiled the book; from the beginning to the end, it was carefully compiled, the sequential arrangements of the facts presented in the book, the use of illustrations and real life experiences in the book. The author included both his personal experiences and that of other people's. He also made use of different real life examples to drive home the major points that he made in the book. I also found the personal experiences that the author shared in the book to be quite real and relatable. The facts that he shared are spiritual facts, not easy to understand but the experiences in the book made it easier and simpler to understand.
There was nothing that I disliked about the book.
The book was professionally edited, I found no errors in the book. The editors did an amazing job. I would rate the book four out of four stars.
It was written to help both new and old believers. It offers the mature believer a deeper understanding of the concepts in the bible. I would recommend it to the average Christian. It is a book that should be part of your library as a Christian and consulted often.
