Letters to sis. a book written by CW3 Cesare Giannetti(Retired military sergeant) in memory of his beloved sister Marisa. In this book Cesare tells a story of his life from the age of 17 until the days of his sisters death.Back in 1987 when Cesare was only 17 years old fresh from high school graduation he left his family to persue a career in military force,in Germany.Cesare and his sister had a very strong relationship unlike him and his twin brothers Rich and Rico.Throughout the years while Cesare was overseas a lot happened,he travelled a lot from Germany, persian Gulf war,Bosnia and Herzegovina.Marisa got married to the love of his life Giacomo. Both his brothers had baby boys.Rich named his son Richard Andrea and Rico named his son Dante.Cesare later got married to Anja even though their marriage did not last due to Anja's excessive alcohol drinking.

I like the fact that the book tittle is exactly what it says it is. Letters to sis. .We can definately see throughout the book that Cesare had a very strong bond with his sister through all the letters they sent to each other.Cesare would write to his sister and update her of everything that was going on in the army, all the travelling, new friends he made, all the clubs he visited to unwind, the girls he met and the hardships of being in the military. The letter that triggered Cesare and got him in tears was when Marisa told him about her condition which is breast cancer.Cesare was so hurt and began to write letters almost everyday.I can tell that this truly hurt him as he was unable to be with her or help her in anyway.Back in 1996 Cesare got a chance to fly to his hometown(New Jersey) again to see his family mostly his sister.Marisa was not really looking good at all,i could say the cancer really got the best of her and that really shattered Cesare's heart to the core.

The book was really emotional at the end as Marisa was transferred from hospital to a hospice,oh my i can imagine the pain she was going through.Above of all this Cesare was always by her side even in hospice, and when the doctor told Cesare that Marisa had few hours or less to live Cesare got very emotional and played her their favourite song by Don Henley,End of innocence.Within an hour all family members ware in hospice with Marisa, thats when she started breathing heavily and took her last breath right infront of her loved ones.

I would say that this book was professionally edited although there were few mistakes that went unnoticed.I really loved this book and enjoyed it.The letters, pictures and songs give a clear vision and understanding of the book.

In my honest opinion i would say that the book is suitable for mature readers as it contains vulgar language scenes. Therefore i would rate this book a
3 out of 4. The tittle of the book did not disappoint so i highly recommend that you go ahead and read it.
