Fast Starting a Career of Consequence by Fred Sievert is a beautiful self-help book for those confused about their career and unable to decide what they want to pursue. This book provides valuable advice on building a meaningful career by following the teachings of the Holy Bible.

In this book Fast Starting a Career of Consequence the author Fred Sievert has emphasized the importance of understanding our spiritual gifts, given to us by God and using them in our career. The author has provided a comprehensive workbook for the same. Many Bible quotes are used as examples, which is quite beneficial.
The author has related many career aspects to the Bible, subsequently telling us that Jesus has the solution to all our problems and we should turn to him whenever life gets tough. The second half of the book talks about the development of soft skills, like leadership, negotiation and many more. Towards the end of the book, there are many things about dedication and loyalty to an organization.

The first half of the book emphasizes the importance of aligning our careers with Christian principles. The second half of the book talks a lot about the organization that the person works for. I felt that the focus was shifted from Christ to the organization. I felt this sudden shift absurd as a Christian can worship only one God. And so much dedication to an organization is quite close to worshipping it.
The beginning of the book emphasizes the importance of following Christian principles in one’s career but after a while, this topic is completely lost and the book becomes a general self-help book.
I enjoyed the first few chapters which had bible quotes and provided me with new information that I had never read before. But after that the book became monotonous.
The theme of this book swings between two extremes, one the devotion to Christ, and the other being devotion to an organization. I feel the steps the author is telling us to take to succeed in our career seem repetitive.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I truly enjoyed reading it and did not find any errors in it. I found the thoughts and ideas given in this book to be well thought and clear. Reading this book has given me a lot of clarity in life. I did find a huge shift in focus from Christ to the organization so I felt disappointed towards the end.

I recommend this book to all those who are planning to start their career soon or have already begun their career. This handbook is especially helpful for youngsters who are confused about their careers. I also recommend this book to followers of Jesus Christ, since this book is aimed at Catholics and Christians it will be useful to them the most.

Dedicating yourself to a job that is given to you by God should be performed as if you're serving the God, maybe this is the way you should look at it.
