The book Who Told You That You Were Naked? A Refreshing Reexamination of the Garden of Eden by William E. Combs, reexamines how sin came into the world through Adam in the Garden of Eden. It also goes further to show how Jesus Christ has redeemed us by His grace through faith.

Combs starts by talking about the Garden of Eden when Eve was deceived by the serpent and she ate the forbidden fruit which was from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. She later took it to Adam and after he ate it they realized that they were naked. Combs explains the consequences they faced for disobedience. They were separated from God and relationally between themselves. They were later chased from the Garden. Their fall led to sin being made manifest to the world. It is first seen in chapter four of the book of Genesis in the lives of Cain and Abel.

Combs goes on to explain how God reconciled the broken relationship between Him and mankind through His only son Jesus Christ who is the only sinless son of Adam. Jesus came as a mediator in human nature of knowledge of good and evil but he was able to overcome. Combs explains that we get salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. He also expounds about faith and classifies it into little faith and real faith. He explains little faith as being overwhelmed by your own desires without seeking God's mind, while real faith is seeking the will of God concerning a matter and obeying His instructions.

I enjoyed reading the book as the writer makes it easy to understand. He uses short stories to elaborate the concepts and he has arranged the topics in a way that helps one to follow along. He also has thought-provoking questions at the end of each topic. This helps the reader to look deeper into the concept discussed and get more understanding. I love how he has used Bible references in his text though he was not specifying the Bible versions used which was a challenge. Despite this, the book is fascinating and creates interest in reading the book and the Bible.

I found the book intriguing and interesting to read. The writer clearly explains the concepts and the book is well-edited. I rate the book 4 out 4 stars for the in-depth examination of the concept of sin and salvation by faith through Jesus Christ. I recommend this book to every Christian as it is a great material for Bible study as it triggers many questions for discussion. It can also be useful for personal devotions. For the unbelievers, the book can be used for research purposes. The book is a great resource for anyone who seeks to understand the concept of sin and redemption by Jesus Christ.
