Idiom Attack Vol 1 Everyday Living (German Edition), is a non-fiction book focusing on the German readers. The book came forth by the contribution of the authors Peter N Liptak, who is an English littèrateur and educator, Jay Douma and Mathew Douma, who works as an educational English consultant and is author of educational English material. Idiom attack is translated in many languages including French, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. This German edition is translated by Angela Basteri, who has her Master of Education in German literature, linguistics and history.

Idiom Attack Vol.1 Everyday Living (German Edition) is a densely packed resource that has more than 300 idioms that can be used in one's day to day life. The book has 25 theme-based chapters. The themes cover all the key topics of English conversation in daily life and profession. Relationships, weather, shopping, traffic, travels, dating and social invitation and some along the lines are the themes covered in this book. Each chapter introduces 10 to 15 idioms. The meaning of each of these idiom is given both in English and German. The basic understanding of the idioms is strengthened by example sentences and a paragraph containing all the idioms at the end of each chapter.

In my opinion, the book includes only the most frequently used and therefore, useful idioms to help us decorate our everyday conversation. For example, the sentence ‘The food was so good that Jim pigged out.’ sounds more interesting than ‘The food was so good that Jim ate more than his share’. The idioms are used in German sentences which will help in more in-depth understanding and active recall. The book is designed in such a way so as to provide an easier and more effective way to learn the meaning and use of the English idioms. This book will positively impact the professional and social life of the readers.

The book was exceptionally edited and therefore I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I did not find any negative aspect in this book.

The book is designed as a learning resource for intermediate to advanced students of english and therefore, I recommend this book to the German readers who are already familiar with English and would like to be more proficient in the language by adding some idioms into their lives. This book can also serve dual purpose for people interested in learning the German language.
