Review of Natural Relief for Anxiety and Stress
These days it seems that anxiety and anxiety disorders are more common than ever. I've struggled with anxiety and am always looking for new information that will help me on my journey towards healing and overall wellness. My doctor has on several occasions recommended anxiety medication and antidepressants, and while these treatments may at times be necessary, I prefer natural remedies and to treat my affliction at the source.
Natural Relief for Anxiety and Stress: A Practical Guide by Gustavo Kinrys and Alexandra Gold, is the most comprehensive work for naturally treating anxiety and stress I have encountered. The authors explain the scientific processes associated with anxiety in the simplest terms, as well as the various illnesses we are susceptible to when we succumb to anxiety or ignore our symptoms when overstressed.
The list of natural remedies was extensive and the authors provided a great deal of information for every herb and supplement, i.e. the origins of the treatments, the way they interact with the body, dosage, potential side effects, etc. Also included were various treatments currently used to treat anxiety at the source, such as Cognitive Behavioral Training (CBT) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). And finally, there was a list of ways we can naturally manage anxiety and stress that we can incorporate into our daily lives, such as exercise, meditation, and eating a balanced and nutritious diet.
An appendix is found at the end of the book that supplies the reader with a summary of the alternative remedies and their respective effects on the body. There is also a table of anxiety and stress-relieving foods that explains why and how they work. And finally, there is a grocery list of foods that help to relieve anxiety and stress.
One of the most powerful messages the authors bestow upon their readers is that our anxiety is not caused by the people and events happening around us, but rather our mindset and how we choose to react to these external forces. Stress is an inevitability in all forms of life, and we must find ways to view these challenging moments as opportunities to build resiliency. Ultimately, this book encourages those who struggle under the weight of their stress and anxiety to empower themselves by validating their emotions, while finding healthy and constructive means of coping with stress.
I couldn’t find anything negative about this book. I honestly felt relieved as I read through and became aware of all of the natural options there are to help treat my anxiety. I have been researching treatments and supplements to help with anxiety for years, yet there were still treatments and options I had never heard of before this book. For all the highly useful information, simple communication style, and attention to detail, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was also exceptionally edited with no errors.
Those who suffer from anxiety and have difficulty managing stress will find this book extremely useful, however, I can see how most people could benefit from the information provided in this book. Whether it’s sharing their knowledge or showing compassion for someone they know who struggles with anxiety, this book will help to educate readers on a topic that is a growing endemic that has such an immense effect on our overall health.
