Gardening With Guns a memoir by AJ Wootton talks about the writer's life journey. She illustrates the loss of a family member, going through emotional and physical abuse, and later being separated from her partner who was gay. She discusses the journey and the events that happened with her family. She also talks about the change and the importance of family members and values. She talks about her childhood values and experiences that moulded her into the person that she is. She goes deeper into her life journey including the way she wanted to be there for her family and so she had to change her job and get a job that would make her have more time for her family. She also explains what she went through after the death of her father, and after the divorce after finding out that her husband was gay. She also explains how her children took the issue and how they reacted to it and also how she later learnt to live her life without her husband.

Amber Wootton has written a very interesting book. The prologue at the beginning of the book shows her search for a job and why she wanted to quit her previous job. It offers insight into the events that occur later in the book. The book chapters also have captivating headings that inspire the reader to read more. The book has 51 chapters that are short and precise and this encourages the reader to read more as these chapters are very interesting. The author also has a proper and capturing introduction of stories that reduces boredom. The stories and the occurrences in the book are vividly described offering more information to the reader. She also offers essential information in the book that might appear to be so minute but also progressive for the reader. She also includes proper use of flashbacks and foreshadows of the events that happened in her life, this is not confusing and therefore the reader gets more information from going over the flashbacks from the book.

I did not find any aspect to dislike in this book. AJ Wootton also included a sense of humour throughout the Memoir and this book is fun to read. This is a rare aspect that is found in a few memoirs. The author explains events in a way that is not too emotional to make the reader lose concentration and this is an exciting fact as the reader is more included in the events that are described in the book.

I rate Gardening With Guns by AJ Wootton 4 out of 4 stars. This book has been well written. The experiences that she went through are relatable to many readers. I also love the cover of the book. It depicts artistry and the titles are so captivating. I only found a few grammatical errors in the book indicating that the book was professionally edited.

I recommend this book to lovers of memoirs and personal autobiographies. Those going through a hard time in their marriages and dealing with families and balancing between families and jobs will also find this book useful. Gardening With Guns by AJ Wootton is an interesting book and those who also love reading stories will enjoy this read.

I am not a huge fan of memoir but it seems like the author has had an eventful life.
