Review of Fast Starting a Career of Consequence: Workbook

Review of Fast Starting a Career of Consequence: Workbook
Climbing the career ladder can be a daunting task for anyone seeking to enter or re-enter the job market. Fortunately, the book Fast Starting a Career of Consequence Workbook is the book that provides an effective guideline plan on how to enter the workplace through the application of religious Christian biblical principles and fast tips that guarantee a strong visible career and early success. Fred Sievert wrote this book after being inspired by his daughter who had recently been employed and asked him what she needed to do to earn early recognition amongst other entry graduates. He was also propelled to write this book to help other business graduates who felt unnoticed by senior management as it led to frustration. In this book, Fred devises a success factor plan which begins by outlining five basic biblical principles which he believes will help new employees in create a strong foundation that develops a strong impact in one's career. The book further brings forth ten proven practical tips on how to bring about and sustain enthusiasm for the job which the author believes will help one in earning early recognition and success. The author is a strong believer in Christian beliefs and uses spiritual dimensions of having faith; or rather a strong belief in oneself to be successful in the marketplace.
The main positive aspects of the book are that the book exclusively outlines the principles which employees need to follow and shows the immediate action steps to take in applying the principles in the workplace. It gives the reader time to reflect on similar situations or challenges that one may have experienced in the workplace and then provides passages from the bible supporting the principle to use in that situation.
The negative aspects of the book are that there are significant repetitions in the majority of all the chapters as the issues he highlights at the beginning of a chapter are repeated under the 'key points' section as well as the 'cautions' section which made the book rather quite tedious to read. The author does not provide research-based evidence on some of the issues he mentions to be evidence-based to support his biblical principles.
I am giving this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars mainly because the book was articulately written and had practical action steps which made it easier for the reader to follow as well as providing the necessary precautions in implementing the steps. The book has neither profane nor sexual content. It had no grammatical or spelling errors and was well written throughout the chapters. I would not give the rating of 4 stars as the book has too many repetitions and some information provided as proven tips are not evidence-based. Moreover, the book does not accommodate non-Christians who are also seeking for guidelines in succeeding in the workplace.
I would recommend this book to new graduates entering the job market for the first time as well as those who are were on career break seeking to re-enter the job market. The book is strongly supported by Christian religious principles though however, I believe the book is also suitable for people from a non-Christian background as some of the biblical principles applied by the book can also be found in other religions.
