I know My Way Memoir by Theresa Marafito with Linda Odubayo Thompson, is a beautiful story that documents Theresa’s experiences in life. It is an inspirational memoir that narrates what it is like living with a disability. We explore Theresa childhood, family life and how they bond together no matter the circumstances.

The novel focuses on Theresa who battles to progress as a child due to her failing eye sight. Despite being bullied in school, Theresa persevered no matter the challenge. She moves on with her life, graduating and marrying Jerry. Theresa gives birth to two beautiful daughters named, Linda and Nance. Jerry also is faced with a disability but as a family they live happily. The author elaborates on their financial struggles and despite this they bond as a family. Jerry is diagnosed with a terminal illness and Theresa’s eye sight deteriorates further. Jerry’s demise takes it’s toll on Theresa and her family. Despite all the emotional battles that she faces, the story takes a beautiful path that highlights love, peace and happiness.

I loved the endless optimism in the novel no matter what the upheaval that this family faced. The themes in this story are; love, perseverance, family, endurance and I felt that these all described the kind of [person Theresa was. The story is written in first person which made it easy to connect with. I loved how unpredictable the story is and use of images help establish a connection to this particular family. I felt that the writing style was simple thus making it appeal to a majority of audience.

There was not a single aspect of this story that I did not like. I found it to be an inspirational novel because of how this family overcomes their struggles. The story was focused and it was free flowing novel. I love the fact that the story was unique in the way it was composed.

I know My Way Memoir by Theresa Marafito with Linda Odubayo Thompson is a beautiful story. I found the book to be well edited and contains mild profanity. This was a heartwarming read and I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. This novel is best suited to mature readers because of the inspiration one can get from this novel. The story was smooth making it ideal for all types of audiences. This novel has taught me to be grateful and appreciative. I highly recommend this story to every young adult because of the life lessons this book holds.
