Review of Read My Mind
Read My Mind by Stephen McLeod is an interesting book that has one main character. This book dwells on the life of a teenager called David. David was an insecure boy who had few friends, and no one wanted to associate with him.
David always believed in himself without minding the situation he found himself in. David, who was an introvert, mainly didn’t have as many friends as he would have wished for. He was always alone, and no one asked about him. He was also afraid that he would be forgotten if he ever passed away. With all these rejections, fear of being alone, and having no one to talk with all his life, David usually read books that mostly gave him the courage to live each day. David had no girlfriend, and the weakness and isolation drifted into his mind. He later got a job on a farm, where he worked for a while. All he ever wanted was money, sex, and power, but all he got instead was betrayal, isolation, dejection. But he never gave in to those pressures, as he tried to put his best into everything that he did. He finally got a girlfriend called Cathy, but would she stay in David’s life or not? You will have to read this book to find out how life panned out for David.
The author wrote straightforwardly without writing anything unnecessary, so for most readers, this book will be an easy read. I enjoyed reading about David’s optimism because, despite the harsh conditions David found himself in, he still had a positive mindset. He believed that he would be popular in the city, have a girlfriend, and live the life he had always wanted as a teenager. The author was able to discuss David’s life in phases, from when he was a teenager to when he became an adult and when he became old. This allowed me to connect with David even more, and I feel like it added depth to the storyline.
I did not see any negative aspects in this well-written book. The author was able to write in a simple language that could be understood by all. The book contains 10 chapters, and I hated nothing about it. I also could not wait to know the fate of David.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because the author was able to explain the life of David. The author also chose his words professionally. I was able to learn from the life of David to be courageous and believe in oneself. I also believed that Professionals edited this book exceptionally well because I didn’t come across any errors. Furthermore, I recommend this book to adults over the age of 18 who feel depressed in their life or place of work. Teenagers can also learn from the moral lessons in this book.
