The book, Immigrant Hustle , is a very inspiring book. It offers the reader a view into the lives of different immigrants from across the globe – Afghanistan, China, Ukraine, India, Syria, and many others, through their own stories. It gives a sense of courage to the reader to read these stories of success and determination despite the discrimination that they faced due to their color, their accent, starting their business when the economy was down or even just starting it even when others around you keep saying ‘no’.

Amine Rahal has written it in the format in which you are like listening to them recount these stories over coffee and you never get bored because they are all different. It is not too long for the reader to get bored but instead just the right length for the story to be told and not too short to miss the important pieces. I particular like the part where they recount their journey to becoming entrepreneurs because it is inspiring even for someone who doesn’t plan to go out. It also offers assurance that with perseverance, and hard work, you can never go wrong.

The stories from each individual were just brief and was enough to give the things that one would probably want to know from an immigrant. When you read thirty stories, you get inspired, encouraged when you have read fifty, some parts seem to be repetitive and the same. I would love the book to add more questions to each person but reduce the number of individuals. It also seemed like the immigrants featured here are those that have awards.

I am rating this book, three out of four. As a reader, I would also love to read some stories about the normal immigrant, no big businesses, or startups, those immigrants that are employees and not given the chance to have their own businesses but are still successful and thriving now. I want to hear how it is like to live as an employed person and how they adapt.

The book is perfect for young people or even not so young ones who aspire to start their own business, may it be a salon, a cleaning service, or someone who wants to shift careers from one industry to another. If you are a young adult who have dreams of going out of your country to look for opportunities - a scholarship, an internship or just to experience independence, yet afraid to make the first steps, then this book is for you.
