Review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition)
Idiom Attack Vol.1:Everyday Living(German Edition) by the combined effort of Peter N. Liptack and the two brothers Jay Duoma and Matthew Duoma and the translator Angela Basteri is an educational texts. The four are skilled in different departments where they unite to create this spectacular text which is meant for educational purposes and also some fun in it. Peter N. Liptack is a certified English teacher while Jay Duoma is an elementary school teacher who enjoys collaborating with his brother Matthew Duoma on creative projects, and finally translator Angela Basteri who has her master's of education in German literature, linguistics and history. All this qualifications makes the team the perfect pact.
The book is written in English and later translated to the German language. It is focused on German speakers who have the English knowledge but are a bit confused about idioms and how to place them. It consists of 300 frequently used North American idioms which are substituted into 25 thematic chapters. It acts as a guide book as it touches through the day to day instances such as:- social invitations, family matters, dating and relationships etcetera etcetera. In every chapter that the reader/learner covers they are able to learn new idioms and how to use them in a sentence. The idioms are in English and are immediately translated to the German language. Each chapter can be studied independently of the other so that it can be accessible to learners or teachers on subjects that most needs attention. It can be used both for personal and for class studies. It's user-friendly in format therefore a resourceful for providing a variety of applications. The idioms are presented in there most common form in the book.
I would gladly say I enjoyed each class as each had something new to learn. Like the fact that the author involved some fun exercises to keep the reader from getting bored. The exercises also helps the reader to determine if they are learning as much as they wanted to or not. For sure by reading this book one's English will be improved to a notch as it is well structured and formated. Although I liked Idiom Attack I had a bit of a quarry. It was a little challenging to know where the English text ends and where the German text begins because the texts are quite similar. Nevertheless the book is splendid.
Even though I have finished reading this book, I would definitely re-read it to ensure I still have the knowledge on how to use some idioms. For this reasons I'll give it a 4 out 4 stars. as it makes one to want to go back and read it again and again. The errors were to the minimal as the book is professionally edited, therefore more deserving of the rating I gave it.
I would finally recommend it to English lovers and to German speakers who want to learn the North American English. It is also suitable to those who are well vast to the basics of the German language and understand the English language, they'll be able to learn more about the language too. I also recommend it to everyone all around the world, adults, children and teenagers as long as they understand both the English and German language.
