First of all, salute to the author Marcel Nickler, who competed in and completed the race named Marathon des Sables in the high temperature Sahara Desert; and that also at the age of fifty-seven years. This book is written as the memoir of the author's Marathon des Sables journey. He has also mentioned what he had done for the preparations. It is written so beautifully that we can feel ourselves part of the race and feel the enthusiasm also. In the end, he shared the joy and happiness he experienced after completing the toughest race of his life. The writing style is also very exciting and astonishing at the same time.

The story Running the Sahara shows how we can accomplish things which seem next to impossible; by planning, practicing and proper execution. Marcel ran daily and learned about the strategies used before and during an ultra marathon to complete it without getting injured, because injuries are the major risk in these kinds of extra long races. He got many tips from his friends who completed that race in the past. He practiced under the supervision of an expert trainer. For further knowledge, he read related books and journals. He, in the book, has connected his marathon experience in life and focused that life (a marathon) is all about pushing limits daily.

The book also talks about family support. If a person wants to achieve the greatest heights, he or she can do it only with their family or loved ones standing with them. Here Marcel was supported by his wife, owing to the fulfillment of his dream of completing one of the toughest marathons. He has kindly acknowledged his wife and daughters for believing in his dream and always being considerate of his busy schedule due to work and practice sessions. When Marcel shared his plan of running the Marathon des Sables, his friends also gave him good thoughts. The wife also constantly motivated him by sending wishes through email.

This book deserves 4 out of 4 stars. I did not find any major issues with this book. The author has well described the situations he had experienced at Marathon des Sables. Above all, he has given special importance to willpower, which is the tank of energy for everyone. He taught us the importance of helping each other, whether it be a race or our life. With the positive influence of our dear ones, there is no limit to what we can achieve in our life. Also, the real joy of celebrating achievement is found only with our people, not alone. I want to mention that the book is professionally edited.

This is a complete pack of motivation, and will add value to the reader's life. Those who are facing difficulties in life, will learn how to face the problems with a positive attitude. I highly recommend this book to such people and hope that they will find the right path in life. Thank you.
