The MISOGI Method is a non – fiction book written by Jody B. Miller. The author researched and developed the concept for several years after implementing it into her own life successfully. Misogi is a Japanese Shintō ritual of purification by washing the entire body in very cold water. However, in the modern world, Misogi is more seen as a challenge that one takes on that takes them way out of their comfort zone (a test of physical capabilities etc.). The book is broken up into five parts where the author shares personal experiences with the Misogi Method `and experiences from other persons who tried the method.

I enjoyed the book because it was different from most of the inspirational books that I have read and the information was relevant. I was able to garner knew knowledge, for example some traditions in the world like St. Lucia’s Day celebrated in Sweden and I was also able to have a different outlook on my life in general. Another great aspect of the book was that the author at the end of each chapter had listed some important points to take away and the author also included a few lines for the reader to be active participants while reading the book.

There were no negative aspects of the book for me. One of the reasons for this is because the principles and application of the Misogi Method were easily understood and I could make connection to what the author was presenting. The quotes used in the book were also great, but the one that stood out for me was from Jack Canfield “The biggest rewards in life are found outside your comfort zone. Live with it. Fear and risk are prerequisites if you want to enjoy a life of success and adventure.”

I would give the book a rating of four out of four stars. This is because the information that was presented was on point, the author expounded on unfamiliar terms used, the transitions between each chapter were seamless and the information was disseminated in such a way that it was easy for the reader to comprehend.

I would recommend the book to persons thirteen years and older. I would also recommend that persons read the book with an open mind so they would be more receptive of the information being transmitted. My final recommendation is that persons have their notepad to take additional notes for personal research purposes.
