Surviving the "Business" of Healthcare- Knowledge is Power, written by Barbara Galutia Regis, M.S., PA-C., provides helpful information on how to navigate today's healthcare system and provides personal reflections by the author of her own childhood as the daughter of a doctor in small town America.

Surviving the "Business" of Healthcare- Knowledge is Power provides brief explanations of what the author considers to be the most important aspects of the healthcare system for the average American. Topics covered include insurance options, elder abuse, choosing a physician, and the opioid epidemic. Regis describes her own experience with a cancer diagnosis and the potential financial troubles she would would have faced if she was not prepared.

The chapters of Surviving the "Business" of Healthcare- Knowledge is Power alternate between one specific healthcare topic and one story from her childhood as the child of a doctor. She has interesting and entertaining stories to tell from her childhood and tells the story of how her parents were leaders in the events of her small town in many ways.

A negative aspect of Surviving the "Business" of Health- Knowledge is Power is that the author does not go into enough detail on the chosen topics from today's healthcare system. She also does not provide resources for her readers to find the help they need in their own situations.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This is because the information provided meets the author's goal of educating her readers on a wide range of topics relating to today's healthcare system while telling entertaining stories from her childhood that shed light on an era that provides insight on the development of healthcare in this country.
