Review of Surviving the Business of Healthcare
Surviving the “Business” of Healthcare is an informative, educational, non-fiction book by Barbara Galutia Regis. The writer is a healthcare provider, teacher, business owner, patient and advocate for her family and friends. She shares her experiences in the field of healthcare, and writes the story as a healthcare provider as well as the cancer patient. In the course of writing the book, the writer became a cancer patient. Her husband, Tony, helps her to be checked and treated until things get better. Barbara writes how she loves caring for people from cradle to grave and how she loves her job. It is what her father and great grandfather were doing in their time.
The book illuminates the delusions on healthcare among the people and give directives on how people in the world can make better-informed decisions about their health. It provides recommendations on various actions like how to get the better healthcare services. It also highlights the importance of health insurance because it may help people avoid going bankrupt in case of emergency. The book explains the benefits associated with the pharmacy managers as they contribute to the wellbeing of people. It has explained how one can handle finances and legal side of healthcare. It helps people sail across a confusion system, get the right answers, and share ways to save money and time along the way to prepare for the unforeseen.
The writer has done a beautiful job in this writing. The book serves the ultimate goal of Barbara that is to educate, empower and execute. This book is providing information that has empowered me to make better healthcare decisions for my family. The story is well written with the good style and good flow. The book has discussed finances as the writer gives details on how to handle finances. Love is also one of the themes, the way the writer confesses her love for the patients and for her family indicates how much love she has for others.
I like the way the book demarcates into small chapters. It helps the reader to have full attention and follow the story easily. The presentation of characters is good and I like the presentation of real life experiences of the writer. They are a great motivation and interesting inspirations. I can confidently say that I like the book entirely.
Overall, the book is professionally edited. I found few minor errors that did not disturb my reading. I, therefore, rate it 4 out of 4 stars with due respect. I strongly recommend it to those people who are sick and hopeless. I also recommend that every person who wishes to make better healthcare decision should read this book.
