I am a 2nd Year College student and this is my first time reviewing the book Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition).

The book is divided into 25 chapters each that focused on a certain theme such as household, shopping or expressions commonly heard on phone calls. Each chapter, follow the introduction of all relevant phrases that provides additional ideas to help students to solidify the learned vocabulary.

Honestly, In my case I cannot vouch for the translation and I find it very hard to understand the book very well since I’m not very familiar of the language. However, after seeing the care, organization and professionalism that has gone into this book, I have certainty know that this is a high quality book aside from the language edition. This is a work of professionalism and well known seasoned by professionals. Idiom attack is colorful and helps me in processing English where I find hard to master. But still this book is easy to read and helps in mastering English. Studying idiom is very hard and frustrating but this book helps a lot to gain more knowledge and create different perspectives and ideas.

The only thing that I felt less satisfied with was the German translation. This is a good choice and might be reasonable for helping readers to understand the English sentence structure. Though, for me it appeared unnatural and could be more confusing than a translation focused on the meaning itself.

As a beginner, in terms of studying idioms I find it hard and can’t bear to understand. Thus, the German translation makes me find it even more hard to understand sometimes some phrases but still it I know that will help students understand more about English.

As this issue might be nothing more but a personal preference of mine and does not diminish the usefulness and message of the book, I still give Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition) a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This rating is also due to the book’s remarkable editing since the book was basically free of typing errors and the grammatical structure was commendable.
