Surviving the “Business” of Healthcare by Barbara Galutia Regis is a biographical novel that explains how we can manage our health finances using her story. The 29-chapter book explains different strategies you can employ to manage your healthcare financially.

Surviving the “Business” of Healthcare opens the readers to the world of medical drama. The book explains family practice from a 4th generation physician assistant’s perspective. It encompasses all aspects of medicine, from the basic health medicine to the legal aspect of medicine to the financial aspect of medicine. Furthermore, the author explains the future aspect of medicine, but it deals more with managing your health financially. The author saw the need for this after a life-threatening experience. She also referenced some medical terms, towns, and doctors to explain different points throughout the book. Want to know more? Pick up a copy and read.

This book aims to change the readers’ view about healthcare and how to manage the financial cost. One of the ways she achieved this was by explaining emergency plans. Since they are always unavoidable, she explained in few words how we could stay afloat with them by having a form of health insurance options. The author also explained why we all need health insurance and why the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

In a nutshell, the book had a way of captivating the reader. It had a free flow of real-life experiences, and it was not short of the much-needed medical terminologies, but most of them were explained by her. It was relatable and educates readers on some medical conditions they might not have known. Furthermore, I love the visual information (about some names and places mentioned in the book) shown at the end of the book.

Therefore, I rate Surviving the “Business” of Healthcare 4 out of 4 stars because the book provided concise details on how to survive in the business of healthcare. I sincerely believe no one will read this book and not have an encounter like I did. It was rich in information.

There is nothing I dislike in the book. Also, the book was professionally edited, as I found a few errors in it that did not distract my reading experience. Therefore, I recommend the book to anyone interested in managing their medical finances, medical insurance, and knowing more about medical practices. Also, anyone going through a life-threatening ailment can read the book to learn one or two lessons from the author’s story.

There seems to be no way for "regular people" to be able to navigate the healthcare system if it's even difficult for this provider
