The Mindset: My Journey from Janitor to Silicon Valley Millionaire in Five Years is a memoir, a coming of age story in many respects. The author, Ace Bowers recounts various situations of note in his childhood that set the stage for who he would eventually become. Mr. Bowers highlights roles, key family members, through their actions, or in some cases inactions, played in his life, and how these factors to a large degree shaped him. The book is a testament to the importance of mindset and motivation in overcoming extenuating circumstances. The author also does not fail to note the support of family and close friends as important elements to success.

The description of the mindset required to rise above the challenges of life is well done. Mr. Bowers does not hold back when describing his lowest lows and the amount of effort and tenacity the steady climb required. The book also provides a balanced view of different life situations as key influences are not labeled all bad or all good but complex with no easy solutions. In this regard, the book provides a more wholesome picture as it describes some situations from multiple perspectives.

There was nothing in the book that I did not like, it flowed, it was easy to read, the story lingered when it needed to and moved with pace when it needed to.

I would rate the book 4 out of 4 stars . The book is professionally edited and contains no spelling or grammatical errors. The language is simple and the story inspiring. It is more than just another serviceable motivational book it is recommendable.

This book would be appreciated by those people who feel hard-done-by life in one way or another. Those who are currently facing or have faced significant challenges that threaten their well-being and make the path to success seem bleak. Some portions however may turn off those who are non-religious.
