A successful entrepreneur’s life came to a standstill when he found out he had brain cancer. If that wasn’t scary enough, doctors told him he only had 2-3 months to live. While most individuals would have given up on life, the author accepted the challenge with a positive approach. This book, How To Be Successful by M. Curtis McCoy explores how he managed to fight this battle and emerge as an inspiration for many.

The author is a highly motivated personality who looks to solve problems. This reflects in his writing, and it is undoubtedly one of the best things about this book. Through various interviews with successful people and through his strategies to get better in life, the author acts as a guide to anyone who is lacking the courage or motivation to achieve.

Initially, the author had no plans to write this book, but an incident where he ended up saving someone from committing suicide, inspired him to take up this task of writing a book. He realized there were many people who needed help with motivation and changing their mindset. This is the reason he decided to write the book and help change people’s lives.

When the author got diagnosed with diabetes at a very young age, his mother made it a point to shape his mental strength. She played a considerable role in his life, particularly in developing a winner’s mindset. As a child, the author attended several talks by some of the best motivational speakers like Les Brown, Zig Ziglar, and Robert Kiyosaki. This also helped him develop a winner’s mindset and although the speakers motivated him, the credit also goes to his mother who took him to attend these talks. Apart from this, the author has an unwavering faith, and throughout the book he has shared some motivating quotes from the Bible. Although, a few individuals may not like this because of their religious differences, but I think these quotes were a great addition to the book.

I did enjoy reading this book and have nothing bad to say about it. There are a few typos that I came across but nothing that would interrupt the flow of reading.

The language used in this book is easy to understand. I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it discusses strategies and techniques to overcome the real-world problems that many of us as a generation may face. For example, he discusses the “FORD” method for those individuals who find it hard to start a conversation with people. He even sheds light on how social media can impact us negatively and how we can avoid this from happening to us.

M. Curtis McCoy’s personal story is a very inspiring one, and it will surely motivate and inspire anyone who learns about it. If you are one of those who has been feeling a little lost or experiencing a rough patch, I would highly recommend you to read this book. Even if you are doing good, I am sure you would enjoy learning the strategies in this book.
