[rwc=id495651-125]4 out of 4 stars.[/rwc]What an amazing life to read about. This books was rich in vivid details and there were many times that I couldn't put it down and had to continue. His life is inspiring and I appreciate the idea that he put pen to paper and shared it with others. I did struggle with some of the religious terms and ideas, as I am not too familiar with Muslim culture or life in Algeria, but it wasn't a hinderance to understanding the depth of the story. This is actually one biography I can see myself reading again.

The beginning of the book was exciting and tragic, learning about his early upbringing. Again, somewhat confusing for someone not too familiar with the Muslim culture. However, Dr. Berrah led such a rich life that that didn't stop me from reading. There are some great explanations in the text that kept me aware of why things were happening and to provide a basic understanding for anyone unfamiliar.

Dr. Berrah is proof that someone can accomplish great things, even if they come from humble beginnings. He traveled and worked in Algeria, Morocco, the Ivory Coast, and the United States. His research into DNA is amazing and his work helped influence great studies. We often forget those responsible for great research and diplomatic relations. But, Dr. Berrah was a "jack of all trades" and his life story and life's work provides a very interesting and detailed tome that was a very good read.I would easily give this book 4 out of 4 as it was interesting, informative, and entertaining.
