Ace Bowers has had a rough upbringing and to think he would be a millionaire at a young age would be ridiculous. An almost non-functioning family due to poverty and alcohol, coupled with fights and associated baggage that comes along with it rendered Ace’s childhood traumatic. Norm in the family was about quarrels and shutting life out on his friends to avoid shame and ridicule characterized his early life. His brother was often absent but a regular in jail, mother was a drunk and father took it all to keep the family solid. The only sober person was his sister who shielded him from bearing the brunt of chaos at home until she is out for college.

In his book The Mindset, Ace Bowers does well to show how he overcomes a rather disturbing childhood without a proper development support system to brushing shoulders with the giants of the American economy all in the quest of raising a better family. Because of his work ethic and motivation to become better, he exceeds his goal and becomes a multi-millionaire.

His is an intricate story of how Ace interacts with his family members, friends, and community. His resolve to better living pushes him to put in sleepless nights of hard work, learning as much as he can to avoid failing as a father and husband. This propels him to excellence, breaking the chain of poverty he grew up in.

What I like about this book is that it shows the power of closure especially in the last two chapters. Most of us relate to some form of depression anxious about one thing or the other. Many die of trauma because they failed to vent and talk issues out or end up committing suicide. Ace feels liberated for the first time in his lifetime as he narrates his story. No baggage. I also liked Anthony’s letter to Ace which is a strong style in the 2nd person narration informing of who Ace has become.

There are no negatives to report on in this book. It is a memoir and the author lays bare everything he needed us to know about the mindset.

Errors are rare in the edition of this book and I rate it a perfect 4 out of 4 stars.

This memoir inspires that person who actually sees himself as disadvantaged by family background to think out of the box, find some motivation and work towards their goal. It has to be something from the inside. How much does it hurt you? How much does it cause pain to live in the same conditions over and over again? Break the shackles and grab this book to liberate yourself by how you think.

With all the author has accomplished, I am glad he also feels the freedom that comes from sharing his story. Thank you for your thoughtful review. :balloon:
