Review by AkothLyn -- The Mindset by Ace Bowers
The Mindset by Ace Bowers is a non-fiction story of Ace the author. He basically takes us through his life from a childhood of how hard life used to be with its ups and downs to adulthood. Imagine growing up in a family where your parents are constantly fighting, your brother moving in and out of jail, and yourself living in fear that your friends will one day find out about your life? That is what Ace went through her entire life as a child.
Due to all the pressure, he decided to start smoking at sixteen years. He was afraid to start life again because of what he went through as a kid. Life took a turn when he met Yuka his girlfriend while he was working as a janitor in Oregon. Yuka got pregnant. He felt everything was going to be hard but little did he know that sometimes a journey may seem too long, but God always sends people in your life in his own time to protect you from the shame.
My favorite character in this book is Ace. Despite the struggles he went through, he stood strong. He took everything he saw as he grew up as a lesson and took a positive step instead of giving up. He decided to let out what he went through his mind through this book later on. He became a millionaire at twenty-eight years old. "You make your own luck and believe in it. It's not foolish to believe. Nothing is ever a waste of time if you learn something from it. For growth to happen, it requires change like your thinking, behavior and how you chose to live and so much more."
What I did not like about this book was some writings are not clear. Other than that, the book was interesting and unpredictable. This is one of those unique books which you don't know what will happen next. What I liked most about this book, is how Ace brings positivity and tries to encourage anyone going through a similar situation to not give up but have a positive attitude toward life. Even after Yuka got pregnant and felt like everything has come to an end, he looked at the situation again positively and gave it a try.
I found no errors in this book. It was professionally edited. I would therefore rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I would recommend this book to everyone.
