One-sided love can be a great weapon of manipulation. It can be a tool to use a person to achieve hidden goals and eventually dump them later. This is a message this book intends to pass, as the author, Darlene Nolin, tells her story of a failed marriage, betrayal, deceit, and abuse in the hands of her ex-foreign national spouse.

Nolin and Victor's (A name she used in place of her ex-husband's real name) relationship started on Facebook with a friend request. Blinded by Victor's charms and sweet nature towards her, Nolin falls in love with him and their relationship progresses. After they got married, Nolin, eventually, finds out that Victor isn't who he portrays himself to be, but rather, a manipulator, liar, and a financial abuser who solely depends on her to survive and whose aim is to get a green card and dump her. She goes through a series of trauma and health problems as their relationship progresses. Will Nolin find the courage to leave this man she once loved?

Involved with a Cad for 7 Years in the Twilight Zone was a short and exciting read. The author revealed details of every event that took place throughout her relationship with her ex-husband. I enjoyed the author's writing style, as it was great and entertaining. On several occasions, when she wants to describe something, she would cite an example, either from a movie character or from a book. An example was her description of Victor's mother, whom she named Norman Bates’s mother from the movie, "Psycho".

Also, I liked how informative this book was. It gave a platform for her to share her own story so people can learn from her experience, detect fraudulent signs, and prevent themselves from being victims of marriage frauds.

In the cause of explanation, the author gave away too many details, which I feel are not necessary for the book. For example, her detailed explanation of her first flight to Macedonia and her disclosure of her ex-husband farting. This is what I disliked most about this book.

I enjoyed this book, as it was edited professionally, and I see no reason to deduct a star. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Finding the right audience to recommend this book was a bit difficult. Nevertheless, I would recommend this book to single ladies and people who want to get into a relationship with foreigners who they know little or nothing about.

It sounds like this book would be appropriate for young adults as a cautionary tale. Unfortunately this happens to a lot of people and can be embarrassing to discuss or be open about. Hopefully this book can help someone identify the red flags before its too late.

Sounds like an interesting read to me. On one side is a unrequited true love. On the other is a very manipulative and deceitful spouse. Would love to read.

Relationships born from virtual friends are usually unsafe. Even those who spent years together wouldn't be able to fully understand their soulmates, so this book is a useful warning for those who can easily trust their online mates. Not only women, but men can also fall victims in the same manner.

Young and old will enjoy it because this happened when the author was quite advanced. And yes, she listed several red flags in the cause of her narration. Thanks for dropping by.
