How To Be Successful: Think Like A Leader by M. Curtis McCoy is a self-help book. It is one of the best motivational books. Truthfully, this book is not only about being successful in business but also about many more life lessons. It contains actual conversations with great self-made entrepreneurs. Pieces of advice provided in the book can be applied to all sectors of life, whether it is a relationship or personal branding. The author seems to make us understand the importance of this precious life which many of us take for granted.

McCoy used to suffer from type-1 diabetes and brain cancer, where his chances of living became very thin. Seeking alternatives treatments in Tijuana, Mexico he survived, which let him have a respect for life. He shares some very valuable struggles that most of us deal with in day-to-day life.

I personally liked how McCoy seems to underline every small talk. Each opportunity should be used to overcome hurdles because frankly, these hurdles will never stop coming our way, it is the duty of life. If you feel you are the only one suffering, then you cannot be more wrong because each one of us has to go through those phases and hit the rock bottom.

This book includes motivational conversation which I mentioned earlier, with US Navy SEAL Sniper, a pastor, and many more. One thing they all agree upon is humanity, loyalty, integrity, honesty, self-discipline. Life is a race, if you do not run fast you will fall behind but while running you should not let these morals fall, or else even reaching those goals will not be able to give you that satisfaction which you should get.

If you hate where you are at, then move, you are not a tree. If you don’t like the circumstances which led to an awful situation where you are stuck, then believe me this book will do great. I am sure you will be able to relate and hopefully find a genuine solution. At the same time, running away cannot bring you to any destination, it may even leave you deserted and isolated, this book focuses on such lessons.

It is impossible not to give this book a 3 out of 4 stars, mainly because, it has everything which you can find in seminars listening to ted-talks. Those motivational videos, you spend hours listening to but still cannot find the passion in you mainly because they are becoming all the same. This book does not just give you motivational talks but deals with real life struggles which make it very real and inspiring. Moreover, it has no grammatical mistakes or none that I can notice.

I would recommend it to every age group because it contains almost zero profanity. Anyone who is building a new business or stuck at a boring job must read this book, it might do wonders. People who look forward to their Christianity and believe in God will also find this book very interesting. Although, I should mention that a section hints towards how atheists may own a business but a Christian can only become very successful in such matters because of his/her belief in God, which I disliked most about the book, my reason to give it a 3 star. So a person who is sensitive to such topics should read it with their own interests.

Happy Reading:)
