My Judaic Journals is a non-fiction book where Elchanan ben Shaul takes us through his thoughts and revelations about his religion, Judaism. He describes how he never thought about practicing the religion it had just always been second nature to him. He goes into a lot of detail about the do's and don'ts of the religion. Shaul goes on to compare Judaism and Christianity. Before I read My Judaic Journals, I was curious about Judaism and what its customs are. In this book, Shaul goes into a lot of detail and explains it perfectly.

Elchanan ben Shaul takes us on a journey of Judaism where we learn all there is to know. He tells us that community is not just about being polite and helping others, but that it is a responsibility we have towards the people that surround us.

What I liked most about this book, is the way Shaul wrote about Judaism. You can tell he respects it and lives by it. I liked that he discussed everything about his religion it was not just an oversight of things. He described the rituals and how important community is. I also liked that he told a personal story about a Bar Mitzvah in his family. There was nothing I did not like about this book. It was interesting to learn about a religion I was not familiar with.

I rate My Judaic Journals 3 out of 4 stars. I think this book could benefit from another round of editing, the errors are small and can easily be fixed. The book is well put together and I think that Shaul has got his point across. The theme of this book is not about slandering another religion or stating that his religion is above all the others. It was written to inform and to get his story out there.

I would recommend this book to those not familiar with the Judaic religion, in order to learn about the religion and culture, as it is good to be informed. Being informed will help us understand each other better, and be more lenient towards one another. There are a lot of points on which I agree with him things that are similar to other religions. I can clearly see that community is important in all religions. You will learn a lot in this book. Even though I am not Judaic, I did benefit from reading this book, as it helped me to understand other people better. This should be on everyone’s must-read list.
