“If God were small enough to be understood, He would not be big enough to be worshipped.”
― Evelyn Underhill

Last Words from Above: Medicine for the Spirit by Jeremy Brown is a 178-page book that serves as a compilation of 2001 motivational and spiritual quotes. The quotes are written in a manner resembling the Book of Proverbs. The book starts with an introduction where the author shares his testimony on how he ended up writing these quotes and turned it as the seventh and final book in his collection of works.

While reading the introductory part of the book, I have a lot of things coming in my mind. Usually if I am reading or hearing a person claiming that he got revelations or instructions from God, I am somewhat doubtful. So, the big questions in my mind that time is that “Will I continue reading it?”. But then I remember that we are all free to believe whatever we want to believe. This book is not a substitute for the Bible, rather this book serves as an extra tool to awaken the heart of the reader to know God in a simpler way- through reading the quotes.

As I was reading the book, I find the quotes very meaningful. They are profound and just so inspiring to read. The more you read it, the more you understand the meaning and concept of the quotes. This made me reflect how am I living my life according to God’s will. I feel that some of the quotes are directly applicable to me. On the other hand, some of the quotes also teaches life lesson and truth. You can also find quotes that rebuke unpleasant characteristics and there are some which give encouragement. These quotes will surely make the readers consider many things in their lives. They will have a greater understanding of their thoughts, emotions, decisions, and actions.

I really love to read spiritual and Christian books. This book is somewhat unique for me in the way it is presented. Numbering the quotes makes it easy for the readers to make as a reference and to remember which quotes impacted them. I also appreciate how Brown reminds reader the importance of having relationship with God. That we need to know God and His words for us to know what he wants us to do in our lives.

Overall, I would give Last Words from Above: Medicine for the Spirit 3 out of 4 stars for serving as a channel for the reader to have a refreshed spirit and renewed faith in God. I did not encounter any profane words while I was reading the book. In addition, I could say that the book was well written as I could not find any typo or grammatical errors. I would love to recommend this book to a person who is seeking guidance and light especially during these times where uncertainty and fear is all over the place. Grab your copy of this book and you will surely like it.
