From Drift to Shift: How Change brings True Meaning and Happiness to your Work and Life by Jody B. Miller is a book that was well researched. Jody interviewed over 100 people who had gone through difficult life experiences. The true-life stories in this book were handpicked from the many interviews.

Jody explains why one should shift and the shifting process in small bites that anyone can chew without choking. The stories are fascinating. They tell of individuals who went through real-life circumstances and came out victorious.
Each story uniquely narrates the experiences of each individual from how things folded out, the journey through their pains, the overcoming point (or the turning point), and the outcome of the kind of individuals they were molded into.

An example is a girl who was raised in a pathetic foster home. Later in life, she started a foster home which not only raised its residents but also helped them get employed.

Another story is of a child who had to undergo chemo from the age of four only to become a wellness coach when she grew up.

Another aspect that I loved in the book is how at times Jody interrupts a story right in the middle to narrate her related life experience and how she overcame. Each story ends with ‘take-home notes’ to help the reader reflect on his own life and make a paradigm shift.

This book is a good read FOR EVERYONE WHO has had difficult experiences in life including sickness, rejection, depression, lack of money, low self-esteem among others. The book is therapeutical and anyone looking for a quick shift in their life will find this book helpful. You may not be experiencing any of the above negative points, but could be stuck in one place in life. The book will help explain why to make a shift when to make a shift, how to do it, and the post-shift results and expectations.

The book has an excellent flow of grammar, a proof that Jody did thorough editing and gave it a good afterthought. Jody has used simple English and has avoided complicated words. This simplicity is a plus because both the native and non-native English speaking clients will find the book easy to read and understand.

From Drift to Shift is inspirational and motivational. I give it 4 out of 4 ratings. Jody is not mean of words when she says in the book: "regardless of the circumstances or timing, we have to embrace change to find true meaning and happiness in our lives."
