The Secrets To Living A Fantastic Life by Dr. Allen Lycka and Harriet Tinka is a motivational book. It starts with the personal stories of writers in which they share the tragedies and experiences they faced in life. The two of them come together to mould their worst experiences into a sword that can help people to live happily and strongly.

Dr. Lycka is a well known cosmetic dermatologist whose life falls down when he is diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and is given 6 months to live. But he does not surrender to the situation and is determined to change his fate. He refuted the idea of death and gathers for himself another golden opportunity to live. He rejoices his borrowed life. Harriet Tinka on the other hand was a Runway Model who was kidnapped, abused and beaten to death. Her life changes when she meets a young girl in hospital. She learns that a perfect life doesn't exist. Happiness is the only thing that matters.

The book presents 13 Golden Pearls. Each pearl has a story which completely associates with it and a moral. It is followed by a casual conversation which spares more information for the reader. My favourite pearls are Vulnerability, Attitude and Fear. These inspired me through and through. Motivation in everyday life is a necessity and the book successfully accomplishes the task. The book offers to deal with the struggles going inside. It helps you to connect to the daily life problems.

What i liked the most about the book is that it has a well disciplined layout. Every pearl starts with a story followed by a moral and then conversation. The presence of a number of quotations inside makes it more appealing. It contains several wonderful elements. The illustrations like Gratitude Wheel, Venn Diagram representing Ikigai etc. do the task of keeping you interested in the book. What i didn't like was the intended humour in the conversation, it seemed unnatural to me. I wish it were absent. It can do better as an audiobook or podcast.

I will rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The book is very well edited without any space for error and is quite easy to read. There is no profanity found. Except for the deliberate humour I loved the book. It provides hope not only for the ones who are stressed out but also for people like us. I will recommend this book to everyone especially to the ones who are depressed and discouraged. It will certainly encourage your sad self.

Deliberate humor can tick anyone off. I am a fan of sensible illustrations though. Good job on the review!
