No matter how old you are, fifteen, twenty-five or fifty- this book and this character will remain with you forever. It is gratifying as a reader to confront a quaint and awesome story, and Kyle s. Reynold's Don't quit: The Jason Merkle story is one such find. Reynolds has composed one such exquisite story that is neither syrupy nor patronizing- instead, offers a record of faith and strong determination.

The Jason Merkle story is about one young man's courageous fight against terminal brain cancer. At the age of thirteen, Jason began to experience hand tremors and a CT scan revealed that there is excess of fluid in his brain. The further diagnosis with MRI proved that there is a benign tumor at the brain stem that caused Jason's extreme hydrocephalus.Jason was rushed to an emergency surgery in order to insert a tubular shunt in his head that will redirect the excess fluid away from the brain. As the tumor was inoperable,he had to undergo one more surgery within six months to replace the shunt. During the course of time, the tumor had become malignant and Jason's parents consulted with many doctors and none of them gave a positive response towards their son's condition.

This book containing 20- chapters in 168- pages is beautifully inscribed, free from profanity and any erotic scenes. I couldn't find any errors as it is well- edited. The author eloquently conveys physical ravages of cancer and family's indomitable determination to teat Jason in many hospitals with best possible care. Every medical experts proposed radiation and chemotherapy for Jason, none offered hope for his long - term survival. So the family chose to reject mainstream treatments and the only ray of hope that they found was the Burzynski clinic in Houston, Texas, which had some records of survival. There, the treatments with antineoplastons and steroids caused a little bit improvement in Jason's life. Each chapter in story is engraved with spiritual quotes from The holy Bible that will rise a ray hope amidst all miseries.

I have never read a book that make me feel such a muddle of emotions, and I loved how the writing meant as I was able to smile through my tears. Jason's hope, bravery and life was contagious and I found myself praying for a miracle, hoping with all my heart that it would turn out differently for him. The things that I liked most in this book are Reynold's illustration of characters and really appreciate the parents for their around-the- clock care of Jason during the most harrowing battle of his life. The author beautifully portrays the love and the service of the parents to Jason that mirrored that of God's immense, limitless love of us. My favorite quote from the story is "Faith isn't asking God to show you the way and then you believe; you believe and then you ask the God to show the way".Each and every line of story encourage the readers to beat every difficulties with smile. Additionally, the book's conclusion was written by Jason and he inspires readers to live by hope and faith.

There is nothing to say negative about the book and it is horribly real and breathtakingly beautiful. The tone, style and language used in the story is moderate and in some areas the language is little bit difficult. The author has portrayed every situation with keen observation , but doesn't overdose or extenuate.

I am elated to rate 4 out of 4 to this exceptionally beautiful story. It is sure that this story will create a strong determination in readers to make 'Don't quit' their life mantra. This is a must read for anyone battling not only with Cancer but any of life's struggles.
