Financial freedom is often most people’s ultimate goal especially for those who are in employment. It is said that real wealth is made in business as compared to employment. H. J. Chammas, in his book The Employee Millionaire, gives readers an intricate plan of how to leverage the opportunity of employment to invest in the real estate business. This comes about after the author witnessed the devastating effects of massive job losses in the 2008 financial crisis. With the concern of how people were unable to sustain their lifestyle, it was a wakeup call for him to get up from the comfort zone of dependence on employment. He found it necessary to share this knowledge that worked so well for him that he was able to replicate in multiple countries to acquire properties.

Using his personal experience, H. J. Chammas explains how to build a portfolio in the real estate business. He uses lessons learned from his mentor ‘Papa Joe’ and personal research and experience to give us a well-detailed book that contains four main sections which get the reader to question where they are, why they are there, where they want to be, and how to get there.

The book starts by tackling the main areas in personal finances that one can improve on. One of the key issues tackled that stand out is the matter of misleading notions that most people have in their minds which hold them back from being investors. He unravels the personal truths behind such limiting beliefs and provides the empowering beliefs to counter them. The author then delves into the fine details of venturing into real estate with a blueprint with ten crucial steps that he breaks down.

The book is filled with numerous illustrations, tables, formulas, and exercises to aid in understanding and developing their plans. The author also provides links to his website where one can access additional learning resources. The book is quite an easy read and I found it exceptionally flawless. I liked most how the author simplified it by explaining a lot of terms that are usually used by professionals in real estate.

The Employee Millionaire is written and edited professionally. The book is a simple yet very practical workbook therefore, I rate it four out of four stars. It serves as a perfect reference for people who would like to join or grow in the real estate business. The book, however, is very limiting since it is focused solely on real estate and would not be of much use to people looking to venture into other forms of business.
